RE: GPS systems

The DeLorme LT-40/2009 combo that came out this year is a big step up from earlier DeLorme LT-20/2006 which I preferred to Streets and Trips 2006. It's about $70 any day and it's worth just paying it if you need it now. So right you are! I run it on a laptop with a 17" screen. The newest version has a lot of enhancements including being Bluetooth compatible The navigation mode is an improvement and the new integrated phone number look-up, address tab is also nice. I also run DeLorme TOPO which also runs with LT-40 GPS Receiver or, I can map and then download to my DeLorme PN-20 Handheld GPS

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

I have been using the sigma 50-500 Bigma for a year and a half now. It helps create some really nice images. Have you tried a 1.4 or any converter with it? Nice pictures! Jim I'm waiting to see how the new Sigma 150-500mm shakes out in the reviews. Not the fastest piece of glass in the world (f/5-6.3), but it does have Sigma's optical stabilization and that helps if you want to hand hold. Or... hit the lottery and buy the Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 for only $25k! B&H says the Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 will be available in July, so you have time to save up. :B

RE: Wiring toad lights

I have had my four toads all wired by professionals...my first three toads, a Grand Vitara, followed by two Silverados were all wired direct with diodes...this toad, a Grand Cherokee was wired with seperate bulbs. The Jeep dealer who wired the Grand Cherokee Limited told me that the Jeep lenses housings are designed with a place to add the seperate bulb. Both systems worked OK and were transparent to me...so, I guess I don't really care.

RE: Yes or No.....locking pins on tow bars?

I use locking pins that are keyed alike. Fire and theft really aren't a concern to me, but, knowing that those pins are not going to come apart or get stolen are a major concern of mine...so I am a fan of locking pins. I guess I am paranoid because I still check them at every stop. :)

RE: Is there a way to drain my water tank?

My Winnebago Journey DL has a Fresh Water Drain in the utility bay...just pull the handle and it drains from the bottom.

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

Filled my truck today, thank goodness it didn’t need all 38 gallons :S:B http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/donsm60/IMAGE_001.jpg We are leaving next Tuesday for a two week trip down to the Texas Hill Country to meet another RV.net member and I never filled up from my last trip to Corpus Christi (Mustang Island). I will need about 80 gallons to fill up the motorhome...:E I am guessing in the neighborhood or $400 should do it.

RE: Does anyone here own a carpet cleaning machine?

We have a Bissel StreamVac SpinScrub that I have cleaned a lot of carpet with. It is pretty heavy but works well. We no longer have any carpet in the house and all it's used for is to clean the motorhome which is 1/2 carpet, 1/2 ceramic tile. The best carpet cleaner I know of is the guy that comes out in the truck that I can watch do all the work! :B

Slow and not very depenadable tonight. I go from portal to portal until I just give up and watch some worthless TV. Political ads...cool! :C

RE: Aventa LX versus Aladdin Tow Bar question

The Alladin is an aluminum towbar with a 5,000 lb. rating and will probably cost more than the Aventa LX which is rated at 10,000 and is an all steel towbar. The weight of the towbar would make little difference to me. I purchased the heavier rated towbar and I am glad I did when I decided to go with a heavier toad.

RE: Branson Mo. campgrounds and shows

America's Best Campground - Branson We attended a Rally here with some other RV.net members and we enjoyed our stay. Not too close to the city, but, not too far away.

RE: Snopes

I am also a Snopes fan. I often use it to educate my wife who will pass on anything that is sent to her via email. I never pass on that junk that people forward to you.
